| Bought one for my wife, she loves it. Easy to use, good quality and the pics are top notch with good light. |
Excellent small camera

I bought this after I lost my first one on a trip.
The camera is very easy to use as a point and shoot. The image quality is excellent for a camera of this size. The extra features are nice, but there is a learning curve and you should read the manual that comes with the camera before trying to use the settings. The zoom is good and it takes reasonable pictures even in low light. You can set the ASA manually, you can turn off the flash, you can set it for various *kinds* of pictures although I mostly keep it on *kids and pets* since I am taking action shots of my grandchildren more than anything else.
It fits in a pocket or purse though I prefer to use a small camera bag.
My only problem with this particular camera is that the battery life is very poor compared to the battery life on the first one I had. Not sure if that is because of the battery itself or if the camera is using more power than normal. I bought extra batteries and switch them out when the first one goes dead and then recharge.
I purchased this one used and had to buy a new memory card for it as well. But those are not expensive really. |
worst digital point and shoot camera I've owned

| Bought this camera a yr ago and always had trouble getting clear shots. I thought I check other reviews for this camera to see if others experience the same frustration. I've had 4 other point and shoot cameras before this all cheaper and all producing much better picture quality. I didn't bother returning this early on because I never really used it myself even though I disliked the pictures I took with it. I bought this camera for my wife after buying the canon 5d for myself. It is just now after my wifes constant complaining about not being able to adjust settings to get better picture quality that i decide to play around with it. I was unable to do anything to improve the quality of the photos and just today I turned it on and got an error for the lens. I turn it off and on again and it start to smoke. I did a little more review reading and found someone who got the same lens error and is now unable to use his camera. I love canon but this camera just doesn't deliver. |

This is my second Canon. And it does not disappoint me.
I like the compact size of the camera, it fits into pocket, purse easily. Although it is small, the construction seems to be pretty solid.
I love one thing about this camera is the face recognition technology. It is so cool. How can a camera be so smart?
I would recommend it to anyone. |
Great consumer-grade camera

This camera is very quick and easy to use. The features I use the most are very easy to get to and switch between on-the-fly.
The image quality is very good in good lighting. As with most low cost consumer cameras the quality of the pictures goes down drastically in low light if you don't use the flash or have a tripod. This camera does have an ISO 3200 setting which will get you images in low light without a flash... which has been very helpful in live performances where use of flash is not allowed. There is alot of noise in these images, but not as bad as past versions of the camera. Overall the picture quality and color is very good for most applications.
Most everything I look for in a 'point-and-shoot' is represented in this camera. The battery lasts a really long time between charges. The memory card is easy to change out. The different shooting options I use most are quickly accessible (macro lens, ISO, flash/no-flash, stock lighting defaults, video, manual vs. auto modes). The metal housing is great. The zoom is better than previous versions of the camera, but I try not to use much because image quality is compromised quickly, especially at maximum zoom. The size is perfect, not too big or small. Its easy to get your finger in the way of the flash, so I have to be mindful of that.
Overall, this is one of the best cameras I have owned and it would be a tough sell to sway me away from this line of Canon cameras. |
